Requirements of providers offering programmes leading to QQI awards
QQI’s policies, criteria and procedures outlines the administrative capacity expected of providers offering programmes leading to QQI Awards. QQI works to ensure a balance between the administrative burden of quality assurance on providers and their obligation to meet statutory quality standards and protect learner’s interests.
Over recent years, however, provider queries to QQI’s Awards Directorate teams have increased in frequency. Many of these queries relate to matters that could and should be dealt with under providers' routine internal quality assurance procedures and processes.
To help address this, QQI's Awards Directorate has provided guidance to providers of programmes leading to QQI awards which outlines the general and specific expectations of providers in terms of their relationship with QQI. It also provides answers to some of the most common questions and issues noted by QQI staff when handling certification and validation submissions.
In the future, QQI will host briefing and Q&A sessions on topics related to quality assurance of programmes. Where certain circumstances require it, the Awards Directorate will meet with individual organisations.
