2023 QDM Summer Phase Wraps Up

QQI attended a number of quality dialogue meetings (QDMs) with Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and Technological Universities (TUs) across the months of June and July. This Summer Phase of QDMs consisted of visits to the first five ETBs to complete the inaugural review of further education and training (FET) and the four most recently established TUs. They were the first to be held in-person since moving online during COVID-19 restrictions. 

Attended by QQI colleagues from units across the organisation, and senior management from the providers, these meetings were an opportunity to discuss strategic developments in quality assurance as well as achievements, challenges and future plans. QQI appreciated the opportunity to engage with providers and share updates. 

Although topics arising covered areas specific to both further education and training and higher education, these QDMs were especially notable as all discussed the subject of tertiary provision. Each visit included conversations around the collaboration between the sectors, FET and HE, and the development of a shared tertiary space.
